Street cats are as prominent in Istanbul as humanity, and filmmaker Ceyda Torun takes us on a beautiful tour of the city’s feline activity. She follows some of the cats that rule the streets – given affectionate names by people who see them daily – as they find food, protect their own, and curl up for petting. Istanbul’s residents cherish them more than most, sharing poignant anecdotes about the significance of cats to their city while touching on spirituality and urban expansion. Torun shares gorgeous images of Istanbul, but also perfectly captures the pure love shared between its animals and humans.
Screens Sunday, September 11 at 8:00 pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
