Kate Lyn Sheil prepares for a role in a TV movie playing Christine Chubbuck, a Florida newscaster who in 1974 was the first person to commit suicide on live television. Filmmaker Robert Greene (Actress) follows Kate as she prepares for the role, attempting to uncover what drove this young woman to commit such a gruesome act. Greene layers his own perspective onto Kate’s increasing obsession, deliberately smashing borders between documentary and fiction, sympathy and repulsion, hope and despair. By forcing viewers to confront their own desires and expectations, Greene has made one of the most provocative documentaries in recent memory: an explosion of ideas, beauty, and darkness. With director Robert Greene in attendance!
